Redwood Watches: The Brothers Story

Heritage Inspired

In 2015, the Redwood Brothers established Redwood with a commitment to crafting watches that draw inspiration from classic designs. Their aim has consistently been to deliver high-quality timepieces that not only look rugged but are built to last. Every Redwood watch is assembled in Canada.

The Brothers primary influences are military watches from World War II through the 1980s, as well as the outdoor lifestyle.

Vintage Military Watches

The first military watches were essential tools for distance communication between soldiers during combat, enhancing coordination to accomplish objectives. However, these watches had to be rugged enough to survive the brutal conditions of warfare.

While vintage field watches are highly valued by collectors, their age and historical significance typically prevent their use in harsh environments. Additionally, many military watches were not built with ease of maintenance in mind. Waterproofing technology back then was also not as advanced as it is today.

The watches were engineered with precision, focusing solely on essential functions. By World War II, the iconic style of the field watch had been established. This intense emphasis on practicality resulted in a distinctive aesthetic that caught the brothers attention. They were instantly attracted to their utilitarian design and robust, durable build. It's a perfect example of form following function at its finest.

The Outdoor Lifestyle

Perhaps it's due to the brothers proximity to the vast northern forests or the experiences of traversing the continent that the outdoors greatly influence their designs.

The essence of the outdoor lifestyle is exploration and adventure, imbued with a spirit of freedom and possibility. This philosophy is evident in their watch designs, which feature rugged cases, weatherproof straps, and names inspired by nature.

Redwood Watches are crafted for real-life adventures, from mountain climbing and trail hiking to surfing and diving. They are analog tools that operate independently of wifi, chargers, or any grid—recalling a time when being in nature meant total independence from daily routines.

The Redwood Brothers aim is to consistently deliver high-quality, durable watches designed to endure the demands of daily life. If you seek a timepiece that's built to last, Redwood is the brand for you.
