Astorflex | Quality Passed Down Through the Ages

Posted by Gregor Bell on

We recently had the privilege of bringing the renowned Astorflex brand into our footwear lineup. Steeped in a rich legacy and positioned firmly at the pinnacle of craftsmanship, Astorflex doesn't just deliver a solid collection of rugged shoes – they're hailed by many as makers of 'the world's finest desert boots.' With such high praise and a fresh lineup of top-notch suede boots under our belt, we knew it was time to spotlight the brand in its full, legendary might.

History

When you dive into the depths of historical significance and unrivaled craftsmanship, Astorflex stands out among the best. Tracing its roots back to the 19th century, this company has a legacy that's been handed down through the ages. Starting off with crafting wooden clogs, this powerhouse brand carved its niche early on. Fast forward a bit and they set up shop in the Italian town of Mantova, surrounded by a slew of other family-operated ventures. Before long, Astorflex was making waves with their top-tier leather shoes reinforced with wooden soles.

Come the '80s, the game changed. With the wheels of industrialization turning faster and a growing appetite for varied footwear styles, shoe makers began to innovate. Many began adopting what was soon termed the ‘ideal method’. This fresh technique was not only sleek and modern but also robust. It involved external stitching on the sole's outer edge, binding the upper and lower parts of the shoe.

Being the pioneers they've always been, Astorflex jumped on this bandwagon. Since 1984, this has become their preferred way of shoe construction, aligning perfectly with their foundational pillars: top-quality, supreme wearability, and unmatched flexibility.

Skilled Bootmakers

From the get-go, Astorflex has been all about quality. These guys build their shoes on solid fundamentals, never skimping on details, materials, or the ultimate must-have: comfort. Just take a look at their classic designs like desert boots and Chelsea boots. Using diverse fabrics and innovating over six generations, it's clear why they've cemented their place in the men's footwear game.

Consider their Greenflex Boots or Bitflex Boots as prime examples. Crafted from top-notch Tuscan suede sourced locally and lined with premium leather, the Greenflex maintains that old-school two-hole lacing vibe. On the other hand, the Bitflex steps it up with its slick elasticated side panels and heel pull tab, making them a breeze to slip on. And let's not forget the crepe sole beneath both pairs - adapting to your foot with each wear, offering extra cushioning, and finishing with a mark of class.

Sustainability at the Forefront

Under the leadership of Fabio Travenzoli, the great, great-grandson at the helm, the brand has recently shifted gears to embrace a more sustainable path. This shift ensures complete transparency in every facet of the business, while emphasizing a greener, more eco-aware methodology.

Relying solely on components sourced from Italy and utilizing water-based glues, natural rubber, and plant-based dyeing methods, Astorflex offers products that not only avoid artificial colors but also results in a more robust and breathable end product. Committed to a 100% eco-friendly mission, Astorflex remains forward-thinking, constantly exploring innovative ways to uphold their environmentally-focused ethos.
